Having your photos scanned is the best insurance you can have so they survive natural disasters, fires, and the ultimate challenge … time.

Once your photos are in digital form and organized, it’s easy to find that special photo you’ve been looking for.

And yes, your printed photos will also be organized and securely packaged in archive-quality containers, preserving them for future generations.

Frequently Asked Questions
You have questions. I have answers.

Here are some questions I typically get asked about photo scanning. If there’s something you want to know and the answer isn’t here, please reach out to me.

Why should I digitize my photos?

Your photos are one-of-a-kind – and like all physical items, they’re vulnerable to damage, loss, or simply fading over time. Digitizing them gives you peace of mind knowing your memories are protected.

When you digitize your photos, you can:

  • Create secure backup copies
  • Use modern features like facial recognition to find people quickly
  • Easily share memories with family and friends
  • Downsize or remove duplicate and unnecessary photos
  • Turn your photos into slideshows, videos, or custom photo books

In the end digitizing your photos isn’t just about storage – it’s about preserving your memories and making them easier to enjoy and share for years to come.

I have way too many photos, but I'm scared at the thought of getting rid of any. Can you help me reduce the number of photos I have?

That’s completely normal. A lot of people feel this way at the start.

I won’t be making decisions for you about what to keep or delete – but I will guide you through the process so it feels a lot less overwhelming.

Together, we’ll look at simple, practical ways to start narrowing things down so you can begin to recognize which photos are truly meaningful and worth keeping.

Over time, most people find that it becomes easier to let go of duplicates, blurry images, and photos that don’t really add to the story they want their collection to tell.

The goal isn’t to get rid of everything – it’s to help you keep the photos that genuinely matter to you, so your collection feels more intentional and enjoyable to look through.

What's the process for getting my photos to you?

If you’re local, we can arrange a convenient pick-up or meet at a designated location to transfer your photos.

For clients further away, I recommend using a trusted shipping service like FedEx. They are know for their reliability and care in handling packages. Once shipped, you’ll receive a tracking link so you can monitor your package’s journey all the way to me.

I understand that sending your photos might feel a little nerve-wracking, but rest assured, I trust FedEx’s professionalism in safely delivering your memories.

What are your scanning fees?

Scanning fees are charged per photo, based on size. This service applies to photos that are loose, in envelopes, boxes, or bins (not in albums).

Pricing

4″x6″ – 8″x10″
Smaller than 4″x6″
Larger than 8″x10″
0.49 per print
0.65 per print
1.50 per print

Additional Notes

  • Smaller photos: Due to their size, these must be fed individually in protective carrier sheets, making the scanning process more time-intensive.
  • Larger photos: These can’t be scanned at high speed and must be scanned individually, which takes longer.

For photos in albums, please visit this page for more information on pricing.

What is included with your pricing?

When you choose to have your photos digitized, here’s what you’ll receive:

  • 600 DPI scanning for high-quality, sharp images*
  • Scanning of both sides of photos to capture any writing or notations
  • Dust removal to eliminate visible particles
  • System sharpening and color restoration to help restore faded or discolored photos
  • Rotation of photos as needed
  • Customized digital file structure based on your preferences
  • Sorting, labeling, and cross-referencing with negatives (if applicable)
  • Saved to flash drive or external hard drive (additional cost for hardware if not provided)
  • 1-year backup to ensure the safety of your photos

DPI Note:
DPI (dots per inch) refers to scan resolution. A 300 DPI scan produces a lower-quality image, while 600 DPI offers sharper, more detailed photos.

How do you differ from a storefront photo service?

Storefront photo scanning services are great for quick, basic jobs – just drop off your photos, and pick up the digital files later. It’s convenient, but often impersonal and one-size-fits-all.

What I offer is a personalized, hands-on approach to photo scanning.

I take the time to carefully handle your photos, organize them if needed, and ensure they’re scanned with precision and quality – not just rushed through a machine.  Each photo gets the attention it deserves.

You’re not sending your memories to an anonymous facility. You’re working with someone who understands the value of your photos and treats them with the care they deserve.

How long have you been in the organizing business?

I’ve been helping people get organized since 2001.

I hold certifications in professional organizing through NAPO, as well as photo management certification through The Photo Managers.
